requests for information on
Sampford or past residents...

If you can give me any information about this family I would love to hear from you

I am a descendant of Thomas Vickery 1760 who married Jane Baker 1760, whose son was William Vickery 1784 married to Elizabeth Pearce 1785. His son was William Vickery 1822 married to Mary Leigh 1822 ane whose son was Henry Vickery 1854;. He was my grandfather but I am afraid I never knew him. I believe the earlier Vickerys were yeoman farmers but Henry appeared to have moved to Chertsey in Surrey and started a bakery business. My father was Harry Wellington and he was the youngest in the family. My maiden name was Gillian Vickery.

Thank you - Gillian Bryan.

Below is my grandfather.

Author and paranormal researcher Ian Addicoat is producing a book entitled HAUNTED DEVON; to be finished by June 2006.
Therefore he is currently in the process of compiling information for potential use in the book about places in Devon with reported paranormal or unexplained activity and is particularly keen, where possible, to unearth new and fresh information.

His background is as a professional researcher and so his writing style is based on a serious minded approach and not sensationalism.

If you are able assist with information and photographs which could potentially be used in the book itself
please contact Ian via e-mail:

He is particularly keen to get the following:

* Details of any reported paranormal activity / strange occurrences and ghost stories at locations in Devon .

* Any personal accounts or eye- witness testimonies or other interesting information.
